Parents Information

At AYSO, all we do is soccer, we concentrate on getting it right for the vast majority of youth players. Some examples are small teams and short sided play (3v3 for our youngest groups, 5v5 for 6 and 7 year olds and gradually more players for older divisions). The short sided play is great for developing soccer skills as it provides many more touches on the ball for all the players. No goalies are utilized in the younger divisions to further develop foot skills and encourage shooting and scoring, this not only helps the players, but makes the games a lot more fun too.

AYSO 1046 maintains separate divisions for boys and girls in U6 through U19 age groups. Our U5's are co-ed and game time teams are built "on the fly" with players of similar ability. The U6 - U14 divisions have separate boys and girls teams, the girls may play on a boys team if they choose but not the other way around. U16 and U19 teams are separate boys/girls teams in the fall. In past seasons, the winter U16-U19 boys/girls players are combined and games are played similar to the adult recreational leagues if we have enough players for this format

AYSO certifies all volunteers, safe haven training classes are required for all coaches

AYSO provides free "age appropriate soccer skills" training for coaches, soccer laws training for referees and job specific training for board members

AYSO volunteers are truly volunteers, we get no monetary compensation, but seeing the players improving their soccer skills and having a great time are the rewards.

AYSO Philosophies:

  • Balanced Teams (no "dynasties" allowed - all league teams are a mix of players of varied skill levels)
  • Everyone Plays (at least 50% of all games, and 75% in most cases)
  • Positive Coaching (coaches get free soccer training)
  • Open Registration (any player, no matter where he/she lives, can play in AYSO 1046, ages 4 to 18 years old*)
  • Good Sportsmanship (coaches, players and spectators are required to maintain good sportsmanship at all times)
  • Player Development (extra programs for players to take it to the next level)
