How Do I Become An AYSO Region 1046 Volunteer?

IMPORTANT - Volunteer Forms

Funny you should ask! It is way too simple.  Ask to be a volunteer, and you shall be a volunteer!  Told you it was simple -- Just Ask.  Many people do not realize that AYSO is a non-profit organization that is run STRICTLY by volunteers.  This means EVERYONE doing EVERYTHING is on a volunteer basis.  The Team Parents and Team Parent Coordinator are volunteers.   The Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Coach Instructor & Assessor are all volunteers.  The Referees, Assistant Referees, Referee Assessor & Instructor are all volunteers.  All Board of Directors are volunteers.   The Field Equipment Team members are all volunteers.  The Purchasing Coordinator, Fund Raising Coordinator, SoccerFest Coordinators, and Division Coordinators are ALL volunteers.  It takes a lot to run a region, but it is very gratifying work.  It lets our kids play the greatest game in the world!  Please volunteer to help out.

The NUMBER ONE JOB that we need additional volunteers for is....REFEREES!  Way too many games had to be refereed by a parent or a coach because we did not have enough referees to cover all games.  This isn't even counting having official Assistant Referees, either.  We do not even have enough Center Ref's to do the job.  It would make for a fantastic season to have three official referees covering every game.  At best, we have a trained center referee and two knowledgable parents as assistant referees.  I especially want to thank each and every person that volunteered during a game to be an assistant referee.   It is sometimes hard to find someone to do the job just a few minutes before each game, especially with knowledge of the rules and an unbiased attitude.  Besides, the parents are there to watch their kids play, not to be the Judge and Jury of the game.   But, please, until we can get enough trained referees, keep up the sideline volunteering!  It is a BIG help!

2006 Season Volunteer Plans

This year the Board of Directors is strongly encouraging all parents to "sign-up" for a volunteer job when they register their child.   No, this doesn't mean hours of non-stop volunteer, community service.  It means nothing more than a committment on every parents' part to donate a minimum of an hour of time at some point during the season.  That's all we ask.  If you want and desire to volunteer for more, you are more than welcome, we have lot's for everyone to do.
